2. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the MedClear app or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use MedClear.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of MedClear after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

3. What MedClear Does

MedClear is a medical terminology learning and translation app. It helps users understand medical language through:

• An AI-powered Medical Translator that converts medical text into plain English
• A medical terminology quiz and glossary
• Interactive learning scenarios and word-building exercises

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use MedClear. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.

5. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your login details secure
• You must not share your account with others
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms

6. Free Tier and Premium Subscription

Free tier: New users receive 3 free AI translations per day for the first 7 days from sign-up. After this period, a Premium subscription is required to use the Medical Translator.

Premium subscription: Available at £2.99/month or £19.99/year. All payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never handle your payment card details directly.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are given for partial periods.

Price changes: We may change subscription prices with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use MedClear to:

• Seek or act upon medical diagnoses or treatment decisions
• Input offensive, abusive, or illegal content into the Medical Translator
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or resell any part of the app
• Use the app in any way that could harm others
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent the free trial limit

8. Medical Translator — Important Notice

The Medical Translator uses the Anthropic Claude AI to generate plain English explanations of medical text. Whilst we aim for accuracy:

• AI-generated translations may contain errors or omissions
• They should never be used as the sole basis for medical decisions
• Always verify important medical information with a qualified professional

9. Intellectual Property

All content within MedClear — including the app design, quiz questions, scenarios, glossary content, and the MedClear name and logo — is owned by Steven Tarn and protected by copyright.

MedClear is a trade mark of Steven Tarn (UK trade mark application no. UK00004379394). You may not use our name, logo, or content without prior written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MedClear and Steven Tarn shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:

• Reliance on information provided by the app
• Errors in AI-generated translations
• Interruptions to the service
• Any medical decisions made based on app content

MedClear is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
